Smart Telecom slashes mobile Internet data volumes and maintains the pricing

Smart Telecom KyaliGone are the freebies, as today Smart Uganda has posted on its twitter handle a change in data volumes, a move that has come as a  disappointment for most of it’s users. Most of the mobile internet data bundles have been slashed by over half at the same price. In the new structure, a daily 1.5GB package is now 500 MB at the same UGX 999, a weekly 2GB package is now 1 GB at the same UGX 4,999 and a monthly 2 GB package is now 1 GB at the same UGX 9,999. Even with the new rates, Smart Telecom still remains the carrier, with most affordable mobile internet bundles.

The company hasn’t stopped there, they have made some adjustments to their Daily, Weekly and Monthly bundles as shown in the tweets below.

[/blockquote] After our tantalizing post about how Vodafone Uganda’s new unlimited data pricing will push other telecos to revise their rates, this move from Smart Telecom comes as no surprise. While Smart Telecom is clearly trying to match their rates to the competition, it seems some devoted users are left somewhat disappointed. Reactions to the new pricing plan are just flowing in from other social media platforms like Facebook. You can be the judge from the comments below. [blockquote]
