UCC reportedly bans erotic “50 shades of Grey” Movie from Uganda

In a country where nude pictures and sex tapes are the norm on social media, news reaching our desks indicate that the communication regulator UCC has reportedly banned cinemas in Uganda from screening the erotic “50 shades of Grey” Movie. This comes a day after The Kenya Film and Classification Board on Wednesday banned the highly anticipated film. A tweet from NTV Uganda below throws some light on the developments of this ban.

[/blockquote] The movie was set to premier in Ugandan cinemas this Valentines weekend but if this ban is enforced, it will see affect sales during this period.We still wait for an official statement from the regulatory body. Other countries like Malaysia have also banned the movie based on the erotic book series, describing its content as “pornographic.” The film is an adaptation of the first book of a popular erotic trilogy by E.L James. From several tweets from UCC today confirm the ban of the erotic movie, and claime it was not them who stopped the screening.
