Word on Plot 28, Clement Hill is that the renowned Africell Top Manager in the Marketing team honcho Mohammad Yahfoufi will be calling it a day at Uganda’s third largest telecommunications company after a 3-year stint as the Marketing Coordinator taking over from the ‘big shoes’ left behind by Marvin Wiltshire Kagoro, the current Marketing Manager at Total Uganda.
Yahfoufi will be starting something new with an unnamed betting company and has previously worked at top advertising firms like Leo Burnett and Impact BBDO in the Middle East.
Yahfoufi a graduate of one of the best Universities in Middle East called Lebanese American University has been the fulcrum of Africell marketing efforts and during his 3-year’s stint, he was a part of the team that birthed infectious campaigns that hooked many a slay queen sorry ‘king’ to their smartphones like the famous or ‘infamous’ ‘Don’t be Cheated’ – a campaign that saw the start of the data price wars and is credited for reducing the price of data bundles in this Banana Republic.
During his time the Purple Network also gave us another ‘slay’ combo of SWIFT and later ‘Triple Data’ bundles.
Such products made Africell the telecom company making the most revenue per user in the Country according to industry analysts when the telecom made data as their flagship product.
It was also during Mohammad’s time that the telecom went full throttle with using social media influencers and campaign ambassadors like Sheila Gashumba and Douglas Lwanga which gave the telecom the much-needed push in a very volatile telecom market.
We gather that Mohammad is set to join a certain global betting house with a footprint in 21 countries. Still unconfirmed, but it’s believed that he will a part of the team in the East African region.
