If you happen to open the SafeBoda app one of these days, and notice anything different, don’t contact support to question what is going on. The ride-hailing app has been revamped into something more appealing and with a very bold outlook.
The entire old version 2 of the app has been changed: from the interface right when you open it, the process of requesting for a ride, checking for any of your ride details, and even topping up of credit. The entire reformation is geared towards emphasizing a cashless mode of transport that the boda-hailing company boasts of.
The new SafeBoda app interface
In the old app, a tap to open would send you direct to a mapped area with an inquiry on where you would like to go. The new app comes in with a new interface, that has three main sections – SafeBoda, Orders, and My account.
Under the SafeBoda section, you can order for a trip, make a topup, see your transactions, and get informed of any ongoing promotions from the brand.
Under Orders, you get to see the past 25 SafeBoda orders you made, with an option to check the details and the receipt break down. To check on this you just tap on the ride whose details you want to see. This replaces the Trip history option that was in the old app.
Under My account, you are given the brief details about your name, number – which you can edit, and email. You can also see your payment details, get to top up or add a promo code; seek help from the SafeBoda team, as well as look out for the brand’s social media channels.
Requesting for a ride
The new app makes ordering for a SafeBoda more seamless and even interesting. When you tap on the ‘Order a ride’ button, a pop up with an inquiry on where you are going comes up – and you can choose to type the location or move the pin across the improved map.
Then, you can set and confirm the location to pick you up from, and you will be given the trip cost estimate from which you can choose the payment method and either to order for or to pair with a SafeBoda around.
The app rider selection algorithm has been improved to get you a SafeBoda as fast as possible. When the app determines that the boda will be in your location within 2 minutes, it definitely is the right time.
The after-trip page has also been changed. The new app now allows you to submit a rating plus a comment, something that was not as visible on the old app.
Topping up on the new SafeBoda app
The top up procedure does not differ as much from what was in the old app. You just have to go to the My account section, select payment methods, and tap Top up. Here, you can enter the amount you want to add as credit to your account, and edit the mobile money number to use, then confirm the top up. Go ahead on the mobile money number to use and complete the transaction.
SafeBoda recently intoduced an option to top up your account from a rider, and the company is also soon introducing the ability to share credit with another user.
