Zoom IQ introduces two groundbreaking features: Zoom Meeting summary and Zoom Team Chat compose. These features leverage the capabilities of generative AI to improve productivity, balance workday priorities, and enable more effective collaboration among teams.

By introducing these new capabilities, Zoom aims to enhance productivity for everyday tasks, allowing teams to allocate more time to creative work and foster collaboration.

The federated approach to AI adopted by Zoom enables the integration of various AI models, including Zoom’s proprietary models, those from leading AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as select customers’ own models. This flexibility ensures that the portal can cater to the diverse needs of its customers and provide maximum value.

    Taking Collaboration to New Heights

The initial set of Zoom IQ capabilities is now available as free trials for Zoom customers in select plans. Let’s take a closer look at these features and explore what customers can expect next.

Meeting Summary: Zoom Meeting hosts can now create automated summaries of meetings powered by Zoom’s large language models. These summaries can be shared via Zoom Team Chat and email without the need to record the conversation. By receiving these automated summaries, hosts and attendees can improve team collaboration, enhance productivity, and catch up on missed discussions.

Team Chat Compose: Zoom Team Chat users can now leverage the generative AI-powered compose feature. This feature, developed in collaboration with OpenAI, allows users to draft messages based on the context of a Team Chat thread. Additionally, users can customize the tone, length, and phrasing of their responses, ensuring effective communication within the team.

To make use of these features, customers need to opt into the free trials for each feature via the admin console. Zoom is committed to data privacy and offers data-sharing options that can be selected or changed by account admins at any time. It’s important to note that customer data will not be used to train third-party models.

    What’s Next on the Horizon?

The platform plans to continue enhancing its products with additional Zoom IQ capabilities in the near future. Here’s a glimpse of the upcoming generative AI-powered features:

Email Compose: Users will soon be able to receive AI-generated email draft suggestions based on the conversational context from previous Meetings, Phone calls, and email threads. This feature, initially available for sales professionals, will expedite follow-ups with customers based on contextual insights.

Team Chat Thread Summaries: For those who step away from their computers and return to a deluge of Team Chat messages, Zoom will introduce Team Chat thread summaries. With just a click of a button, users will be able to catch up quickly, ensuring they stay informed and engaged.

Meeting Queries: Arriving late to a Meeting can be disruptive and leave participants feeling out of the loop. To address this, Zoom will introduce the Meeting Queries feature, enabling users to submit discreet queries via the in-meeting chat. They will then receive a generative AI-created summary of what they missed, enabling seamless catch-up without disrupting the flow of the meeting.

Whiteboard Draft and Synthesize: To foster efficient brainstorming sessions, Zoom will introduce the whiteboard draft and whiteboard synthesize features. The whiteboard draft feature will provide initial ideas to kick-start the session using text prompts. Meanwhile, the whiteboard synthesize feature will automatically organize ideas into categories, allowing teams to streamline their collaboration process.
