    YouTube to reportedly launch an Android app for kids

    With videos aimed at children having a ballooning audience online, video streaming service YouTube will next week unveil a new app specially designed for kids. According to The Wall Street Journal this new app will be called YouTube Kids and will squarely provide original episodes of TV shows. There are several channels on YouTube for youngsters, and YouTube promises to integrate them in the upcoming app. The company also promises to provide a mechanism for parents to limit their kids from watching the for long periods.

    Unlike YouTube’s regular app, this app will initially be an Android first affair for both phones and tablets with a “kid-friendly” design with big, bulbous icons and minimal scrolling. YouTube’s revenue model is currently unknown, but The Wall Street Journal says the possibility of YouTube Kids featuring ads was under consideration.
