YouTube to observe ‘the geekery’ in us with weeklong celebration beginning August 4th

Get ready to unleash the geek in you as reports from YouTube, suggest that “there’s never been a better time to be a geek.” And the world’s biggest video sharing website is making an effort to bring out the inner geek in all of us with its first-ever Geek Week programming event beginning August 4th. In a blog post, YouTube points to the success of shows like The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones as proof that geekery has officially gone mainstream, but also highlights that many of its own top-ranked channels pertain to geek culture. “YouTube has become a top destination for fans everywhere to create, share and watch geek content,” says the company.
