    Why Aaron Tindiseega resigned as country manager at Uber Uganda

    Aaron Tindiseega who has been the country manager at Uber Uganda recently quit the company to seek greener pasturers after four years in the company since 2017. Smart24tv confirms that Tindiseega said he left Uber in June for personal reasons and he’ll be heading Elephant’s expansion into Africa. Elephant Healthcare, a health technology company based in London, U.K He’ll be “working remotely” from Uganda.

    Uber’s business in Uganda has been affected by the recent COVID-19 lockdown, On April 1st, 2020, the company suspended all its services during the first lockdown. To protect the safety and well-being of the community, when the president banned all public movement. Under Aaron Tindiseega, it has been on a spree of increasing its rates not once but twice this year alone. Uber is yet to name a new country manager.

    Shortly after launching a new package delivery service in Uganda, the mother Uber company decided to lay off 3,000 employees in new rounds of COVID-19-inspired cost-cutting. The news was announced in an email to staff by the company CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. The ride-hailing company has seen an over 80 percent drop in its ride-hailing business as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Khosrowshahi said in the email.

    Uber also closed off 45 offices globally. And reshuffled some of its divisions, Khosrowshahi said, to “re-focus our efforts on our core,” which he defines as “helping people move, and delivering things.”

    In Uganda, Uber Boda will resume operations on July 27th, and this business unit has faced stiff competition from Safeboa. It should be noted that but Uber X has been operational since cars were allowed to operate. Prior to joining Uber Uganda, Aaron Tindiseega worked for the corporate and investment banking unit of Stanbic Bank Uganda from June 2013 to August 2016 as per his LinkedIn profile.
