Whatsapp just unveiled Whatsapp group video and voice calling to users around the globe on iOS and Android. The feature was first hinted on back at Facebook’s F8 developer conference in May. Whatsapp Group video and voice calling was one of the most anticipated features — the ability to chat in groups while not in a group. The feature allows up to four users to video or voice in a call.
There are so many reasons why people like chatting in groups. It could be trying to keep everyone up to date, planning a family vacation or sharing hilarious videos. The feature was therefore introduced to allow anyone on Whatsapp to turn group chats into face-to-face conversations no matter where they are.
Forget the mundane nature of voice notes when trying to communicate to your co-workers in the group. Whatsapp has juiced the calling feature with the ability to make group voice calls. This is similar to traditional conference calls offered by telecom companies. It doesn’t matter whether you’re downtown or hundreds of kilometers up country.
A face to face Whatsapp group video call is perfect for those spontaneous moments when text just isn’t enough or when you have a major case of FOMO. It’s the best way have the kids wish grandma a happy birthday, or make add visuals to a group chat.
