WhatsApp boasts as the most secure messaging app on Android

The world’s most popular mobile messaging  app WhatsApp today boasts of a leading new end-to-end encryption service for messages. That means that your messages are totally secure and cannot be decrypted by WhatsApp at all — no matter what. With this new feature, only the two parties involved in the chat will be able to see the messages, so even if WhatsApp were asked to hand over the messages to law enforcement, they won’t be in position to do so.

This is similar end-to-end security like what other apps offer, but WhatsApp has the biggest numbers in terms of usage. The new encryption features are said to be heading to iOS soon as well.

The implementation of this new feature comes from a partnership with Open Whisper Systems, best known for their TextSecure apps. According to Open Whisper CTO Moxie Marlinspike,  it took six months to hit the jack pot in terms of code implementation for such a large deployment.
