WARNING: Delete these 230 Android apps if you have them

Just a few weeks ago we reported about the risk Vidmate users are having with running it’s android app which has been proven to be draining users phone batteries and mobile data without their consent well. Another disturbing news today indicates that Google Play store has been compelled to remove a number of popular Android apps that were found to have contained well-hidden advertising plugins which forcibly display ads on your locked phone screen.

A Cybersecurity company called “Lookout” discovered the phone breaking plugin called BeiTaAd in 238 android apps on Google play store that forcefully display ads on a user device up to the extent that can interfere with normal device usage.

The constant ads, which display outside of the affected Android apps and pop up even when the phone is sleeping, can make your phone unusable and interferes with a user’s interaction with other apps on the device.

The software company reported the malicious apps to Google and the dangerous plugin has so far now been removed. Most of the apps in question are keyboard themes but a range of health and fitness apps and a document scanner app also made the list.

What you should do in case you have any of the apps?

Android has issued a warning and advised users to either delete the affected apps or to upgrade to newer versions without the BeiTa plugin where possible. However, if you still have an older version on the android app on your phone then it can still be affected with the persistent adware plugin.

How to delete the Android apps from your phone

• Open “Settings” and scroll to “Apps” or “Application Manager in the older version of androids”
• Tap on the app you want to remove
• Then click “Uninstall”
