Vodafone slashes monthly data bundle prices by 15%, unlimited plans remain unchanged

As the competition in Uganda’s telecom space gets steeper by the day, carriers are revising their data rates to match this growing competition. Vodafone Uganda this week slashed the monthly data rates for its 5 and 10 GB bundles by 15% and 12% respectively. Now, the 5GB package will drop from UGX 99,900 to UGX 84,000 and the 10 GB package is now UGX 109,900 from UGX 124, 000. The 90 day Ultra and Mega bundles that give you 50 and 100 GB respectively also stay at UGX 424,900 and UGX 624,900. Check out the table below for the new rates.  For those who love the carrier’s unlimited data offering, the sad part is that the pricing will remain unchanged, those interested in these new rates can simply dial *132# to load and enjoy the carrier’s 4G LTE network.

The price drop comes at a time when Foris Telecom (iNconneting), another 4G carrier is slowly exiting Uganda’s telecom sector. The price drop is expected entice Foris’s telecom’s subscribers and others to make the big switch to an actual working 4G LTE network which is not 4G WiMAX.
