Huawei has released a beta version of its long-awaited HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system (OS). The OS has been crafted and will replace Android on existing and future smartphones and tablets. This is a huge move for Huawei after Trump’s administration banned Huawei from using any American made software which includes Android and the Google PlayStore.

Participants in the beta testing program for the new OS for Huawei Mate 30 and P40 will be the first to get the HarmonyOS 2.0 beta, but a preview of the Huawei P40 with HarmonyOS preinstalled has already been published on the Web. You can check out the operating system in action in the video below.
The video shows that the OS still needs some speed optimization work and has all design cues from its latest versions EMUI 11. You can sign up for public beta testing of HarmonyOS before the end of January, and the final version for the Mate 30 and P40 will most likely be released in the spring.
Apart from showing off HarmonyOS on its existing devices, Huawei has also announced that starting next year, all of its devices will migrate to HarmonyOS. That is, various wearable devices (smartwatches and fitness bracelets), smart displays, car entertainment systems; and in general everything that Huawei will produce will debut from next year already with the preinstalled HarmonyOS and not Google’s Android.
