Kweli.shop officially launched its operations in Africa. The Ugandan COVID-19 season success story in e-commerce retail was launched at the Innovation Village hosted by Mr. Solomon Serwanjja, CEO of African Institute for Investigative Journalism. Some of the Special guests included Mr. Fred Muwema from Anti-Counterfeit Network Africa and Mr. C.K Japheth, CEO of The Innovation Village.
Started in April 2019, a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic, Kweli.shop is a counterfeit-free Home Appliances and Electronics Store that has served more than 1,000 customers in Uganda, Kenya and DRC since its inception. Its mission is to make counterfeit-free shopping a possible experience for every household in Africa, starting in Uganda.

Mr. Obeli said Kweli.shop is going a step forward with two new life-changing announcements including Kweli Layby which allows customers to save towards their favourite items by paying in instalments and Kweli4Help a service that allows anyone to call Kweli.shop for inquiries on any household appliance even though they were not bought from their kweli.shop
It uses a single vendor model and partners with major distributors of the world’s best brands including LG, Ariston, SAMSUNG, Sony, Moulineux, PHILIPS, INDESIT, beko, BOSCH and so on.

We are not just changing the narrative of shopping; we are an emblem of startup entrepreneurship on the African continent that has grown through the COVID-19 Lockdown season.
On his part, C.K. Japheth congratulated the Kweli team on this success and advised entrepreneurs not to waste a crisis. In addition, Fred Muwema was delighted to see the group of young people from Kweli.shop join the fight against counterfeits in Uganda.
Kweli.shop is gearing up to open physical stores in suburbs in the Kampala metropolitan area and later on nationwide to give easier access to customers to counterfeit-free home appliances and electronics.
