Uganda communications commission (UCC)  is not done yet with regulating Uganda’s media and Telecommunications space. Given the fresh new voice and SMS tariffs issued out to all Telecom operators, UCC has also developed fresh algorithms to take down fraudulent national ID registrations for new and already registered sim cards.

According to UCC, any Telecom operator that defies the new directive attracts regulatory sanctions. Furthermore, Airtel was accredited for applying the new regulations in the first place. More so, making their intentions clear. UCC proved it’s new warnings through their twitter account.

Reviving the *197# sim registration platform. UCC seems to be focused on reviving back the will of subscribers since they will soon control who utilizes their NIN for sim registration. Furthermore, Telecom operators are required to implement the new regulations by March 26.
