UCC gives its website a fresh design

To celebrate 20 years of existence, the communication regulator the Uganda Communications commission (UCC) has quietly given its long aged website a fresh-look.  The new designs is aimed to be user friendly and make sector information available to the masses. UCC wants to highlight its key achievements which include; creating a regulatory environment which is stable and attractive, increased uptake of communications services in key sectors like education , health and governance. Increased investment and compliance in the communication sector has also been one of the key goals of the regulator.

Through the website, UCC also highlights how it has increased customer awareness through various fora like the consumers parliament, price compactor websites, campaigns.

UCC was established to develop a modern communications sub-sector and Infrastructure in Uganda, in conformity with the operationalization of the Telecommunications Policy.

The Commission is mandated to undertake a range of functions in the following areas: licensing and standards; spectrum management; tariff regulation; research and development; consumer empowerment; policy advice and implementation; rural communications development; and capacity building.
