    Uber Uganda services will only be available on Uber X

    As announced by H.E. The President of The Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 25 March 2020, public transport vehicles including boda boda operations will be suspended for the next 14 days in Uganda.

    This suspension directly affected Uber Uganda’s UberBoda option and therefore in compliance with this Government directive the company has announced that their UberBoda option will not be available in the Uber app effective 26 March 2020. This means that you will not be able to request an Uber Boda from the app during the entire suspension period.

    Uber however says that during this period its customers can still access the UberX option which will continue to be available on the Uber app. Please note that The President directed that no more than 2 passengers can be transported at once – so please bear this in mind if you are requesting with a group of people.

    The most important thing you can do right now is to stay at home if possible – this is especially critical if you’re feeling ill. This will help limit the spread of the COVID 19 virus. Let’s help keep our community safe and ensure that trips are available for those who need them.

    When using Uber, please keep the wellbeing of your drivers in mind by following the tips below;

    Wash your hands. Before and after you ride, always wash your hands.

    Cover your mouth and nose. If you sneeze or cough, do so into your elbow or a tissue.

    Sit in the back. Give your driver space by sitting in the back seat.

    Open the window. If possible, open the window to improve ventilation.
