In an announcement on his Facebook page, Mark Zuckerberg indicated that the new feature will allow users to move their WhatsApp chats to a new phone more privately, without the chats “ever leaving your devices.”

It’s important to note that the Chat History Restore feature is currently being rolled out to WhatsApp Beta users and is initially available for same OS transfers only.

It’s simple. Head over to the Settings tab inside WhatsApp, then navigate to Chats and look for the Chat transfer option. If the feature is available to you, it will appear there.

Once you initiate the transfer process by scanning the QR code, your chat history will seamlessly migrate to the new device. It’s like moving to a new home and taking all your cherished memories with you!

Security is always a top priority, especially when it comes to our private conversations. Rest assured, WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, has emphasized that chat history data is shared exclusively between the two devices involved in the transfer process.

Moreover, the data is fully encrypted, ensuring the utmost privacy and protection for your valuable conversations. Keep an eye out for the Chat History Restore feature as it becomes available to all WhatsApp users.

This development is on top of another recent addition to WhatsApp: Channels. Described by Meta as a “reliable and private way to receive important updates from individuals and organizations,” Channels is a broadcasting tool designed to streamline communication and keep you connected with the people and organizations you care about.
