Ticket Yo is using FinTech to digitize Events Tickets

In Uganda, the vibrant event scene is a daily affair, with music, dance, sports, and cultural gatherings taking place almost every day. However, amidst this lively atmosphere lies a significant challenge: the cumbersome process of purchasing tickets.

For many, buying tickets often feels like navigating a maze filled with confusion, fraud, and long queues. But fear not! A revolutionary solution is on the horizon, thanks to innovative companies like Ticket Yo.

    The ticketing dilemma

The traditional method of ticket sales—manual transactions and physical checks—has proven to be a breeding ground for issues such as fraud, theft, and chaos at event venues.

As John Allan Ojera, the founder of Ticket Yo, aptly puts it: “We are simplifying and streamlining the ticket acquisition process within the Uganda Entertainment Industry.” This start-up is stepping in to transform how Ugandans access events by digitizing the ticketing experience.

    Enter Ticket Yo

Ticket Yo is at the forefront of this digital revolution. The platform offers a seamless ticketing solution that allows event organizers to register, list their tickets, and monitor sales through a user-friendly dashboard.

Ojera explains, “As an event organizer, you register with us, list your tickets and make them available. We then create for you a dashboard that indicates the numbers of visitors on your link, actual sales, and money collected.”

For attendees, the process is just as straightforward. “For the customers/revelers, they simply go to our website, choose the event they want to attend and then enter their emails and mobile numbers so that we are able to deliver to them the tickets digitally once they pay,” Ojera elaborates.

This means revelers can purchase tickets from the comfort of their homes, using mobile money or bank cards, and receive a secure digital ticket complete with a unique QR code for entry.

    A game changer for events

The digitization of ticketing not only enhances convenience but also tackles security concerns head-on. Digital tickets are harder to counterfeit, significantly reducing the risk of fraud. Moreover, they provide valuable data to event organizers, helping them understand attendance patterns and improve future events.

Ticket Yo’s participation in the #40Days40FinTechs initiative highlights its commitment to innovation in the financial technology space. This initiative, which showcases various fintech solutions, aims to bring underserved populations into the digital economy. With over 150 participants in previous years, it has become a premier platform for showcasing innovations that empower communities.
