    In January this year, Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) announced that their Kayoola EVS™ (electric vehicles) buses are ready for primetime. The Kayoola EVS™ (electric vehicles) buses will provide more options for arriving and departing passengers at the airport. At full charge, the Kayoola EVS™ has a range of up to 300 kilometers making it capable of seamlessly handling the daily duty cycle. With a sitting capacity of up to 90 passengers, the Kayoola EVS™ is positioned to offer great returns for the bus operator while enabling the reduction in congestion on the city roads. This makes the Entebbe route very ideal to operate.

    The buses will shuttle UCAA staff from around Kampala who will be collected three days a week for eight weeks, free of charge. Director General UCAA, Mr Fred Bamwesigye said;

    “For now we are not taking the buses permanently, we are trying to use them because we use the same routes every day. When we see the buses becoming more regular and we have seen they answer some of our needs, then we take the opportunity to acquire some of them to transport our staff,”

    KMC has also announced that the shuttle route will be; Nambole – Entebbe Airport via Northern bypass and Entebbe Express high way from July 20 – August 14; and from Uganda house to Entebbe Airport from August 14 – September 11, 2020. The departure time will be 7.30 am and leaving the airport shall be at 4.00 pm.
