Pay TV Uganda 2

Streaming is not particularly widespread in Uganda but with the increase in the uptake of internet services, you occasionally find one or two Ugandans enjoying streaming services at the comfort of their living rooms, commute and office or anywhere they see fit.

The most likely culprits enjoyed by most are Netflix and YouTube both of which can be found across a wide range of streaming devices and platforms. You can catch up with the difference between the two here.

Speaking of platforms, most streaming services are built atop platforms like Android TV, Apple’s tvOS, Roku, Amazon FireTV, Google Cast, Samsung’s Tizen as well as LG’s WebOS.

These are the underlying platforms powering most streaming devices, dongles and TVs in equal measure. However, today we are here to talk about the best streaming devices you can buy. In no particular order, these are;

Much like the Chromecast in terms of ergonomics, The Amazon FireTV Stick 4K is a plug and play dongle running Amazon’s FireTV platform to stream content over the air.  It supports 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos among others.

Still, you can’t directly buy it in Uganda as you have to go through services like Bazebo but it is worth the $49.99 (UGX 200K+) it charges for.

However, it is important to note that some services are geo-locked and might not work in Uganda but favourites like Netflix & YouTube work just fine. Others like HBO, Starz etc might require you to invest extra bucks on a VPN to work or unlock geo-locked content.
