    The Netherlands Trust Fund project to promote Uganda’s competitiveness in ICTs

    The third Netherlands Trust Fund ( project was kicked off today at the Serena Kampala. The three-year project aims to promote Uganda’s competitiveness in exports particularly ICTs  and Business process outsourcing (BPO). Project aims to create more jobs in ICT sector and improve international competitiveness for Uganda’s ICT products & services.

    Speaking at the event, ITC Director for Market Development Anders Aeroe explained that the project is one of only six projects of its kind worldwide and Uganda was chosen because of its strong focus in ICTs evidenced in regulation, infrastructure and is also strong in education. There will also be a strong focus focus on increasing opportunities for women in the ICT sector, he further explained.

    Netherlands Foreign Affairs Ministry Representative Prof. Rob van Eijbergen said that Uganda has a lot to offer global ICT sector  including education. ICT Minister was represented by NITAUganda’s ED, who presented a vote of thanks to all partners, implementers and the founder of the project. The Ministry of ICT is fully supportive of this initiative in enhancing our ITES/BPO competitiveness.  30 companies have been selected for process improvement to increase export competitiveness.
