It feels like just yesterday Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 and its bigger brother the 6 plus, but for dedicated Apple fans it will come as no surprise that the company is planning to hold a big event on September 9th to take the wraps off the iPhone 6s. This rumor has now been confirmed by  well-sourced John Paczkowski of BuzzFeed, and he also claims that we’ll see some new iPads as well as the long-awaited new Apple TV.

This year, Apple is on its “S” cycle, which means we’ll likely see a phone physically identical to last year’s iPhone 6, but with some pimped up internal hardware and most especially the new force touch technology that is already included on the Apple Watch and new Macbook. When it comes to the long rumored Apple TV, this is expected to be a complete redesign of the hardware and hopefully an entire Apple TV experience. If Apple has managed to lock down the content deals it needs to make it stand out, this could be worth a lot of attention in the company’s presentation.

Given the slowing down sales of the iPad, this product category might not quite deserve the headlining status in the October events Apple has held in recent years since those events also often feature Mac and OS X updates. Given the new iPad multitasking features showing up in iOS 9 we might finally see the rumored large screen iPad Pro. Fortunately, it seems we won’t have to wait long to find out if all this turns out to be true.
