With work from home and home entertainment internet solutions becoming popular lately in Uganda, many Internet Services Providers (ISPs) are offering unlimited internet and Airtel Uganda is no exception.
When Airtel Uganda unveiled their broadband internet solution in November 2019, they were targeting homes, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). For some, this may not be the unlimited internet package of their dreams. For customers who will opt for these enterprise solutions, the telecom company will have to install Microwave equipment that is worth UGX 3.145m (don’t worry you won’t pay for this equipment) as your monthly subscriptions will make up for this hardware with time. But the installation of this Airtel broadband Outdoor Unit has now been slashed by UGX 80,000 now at UGX 200,000 for a shared and 2 Mbps dedicated connection.

The Shared Internet connection
The shared internet capacity (Gold bundle) goes up to 5 Mbps which means your speeds can go as low as 128kpbs or 64 kbps depending on traffic on the site on which your microwave link is connected to. There is no guarantee on speeds with this bundle. Get ready to pay UGX 350,000 every month with the shared Airtel Uganda broadband internet connection.
Total Cost: UGX 200,000 + UGX 350,000 = UGX 550,000
The 2 Mbps dedicated internet connection
This is a platinum bundle which guarantees speeds of 2Mbps 24/7 throughout your subscription period. If you don’t want to be hit will slow speeds and you are comfortable with a 2 Mbps connection all to yourself you will have to part with a hefty UGX 650,000 per month.
Total Cost: UGX 200,000 + UGX 650,000 = UGX 850,000
The 3 Mbps dedicated internet connection
Unlike the shared and 2 Mbps bundle, Airtel Uganda’s microwave installation equipment cost for this bundle goes for UGX 375,000 and this is a one-time payment. This bundle will guarantee customers to enjoy 3 Mbps speeds 24/7 at a cost of UGX 870,000 per month.
Total Cost: UGX 200,000 + UGX 870,000 = UGX 1,070,000
For all the broadband solutions, Airtel Uganda assures its customers that the installation of the microwave link will be completed within 2 working days upon receipt of payment.
These are clearly smart home solutions that support simultaneous connections for streaming online content, e-entertainment, and work from home. You can also connect a WiFi Router for the entire house at the same capped monthly cost for the entire family to enjoy.
