The Apple Watch gets watchOS 2

Apple recently pulled back releasing watchOS 2 alongside iOS 9, but after the short wait, Apple Watch owners can now upgrade to the latest OS. This is the first major update for the Apple Watch, which brings number of new features, paramount of all is support for native third-party apps.

This update is an entry point for developers to provide a better experience for Apple Watch owners. Right now, third-party apps that run on the watch are beamed down from a paired iPhone, but apps that run directly on the Watch promise to be faster and much more capable. With the watchOS 2 update, users can also expect things like new Complications, custom watch faces, and improvements to Siri, Maps, and Digital Touch.

At the iPhone 6s announcement last week, Apple claimed that 97 percent of users are satisfied with the Watch right now, the stakes are still high for the Watch’s success.
