The TECNO Camon 11 Pro launched recently to much waiting in Uganda albeit with endless rumours about the same device that have almost turned out to be true but….

We have had the chance to score a review device so wait for this patiently but first, let us break down our first impressions of the device that has ushered TECNO into the festivities this year.

The “PRO” branding as has been the case with other TECNO devices basically implies this is a beefier version of the respectable Camon 11 and this is normally in terms of raw power, camera prowess and at times design variation. True to this, the Camon 11 Pro packs more RAM and ROM of 6GB + 64GB respectively and other subtle differences from the Camon 11 but there is actually a striking resemblance between both devices while the spec sheet is what seems to differ.

The Camon 11 Pro also has the iPhone X DNA and often confused bystanders with its notched display, vertically aligned dual back cameras, Face Unlock but what actually differed from the former is the purple like and black color accents (TECNO prefers to call then Nebula Blue) of its plastic cover which is also blessed with both CAMON and TECNO branding plus a fingerprint scanner at the back. The Camon 11 Pro’s 87.98% screen to body ratio also makes it stand out from the former with a chin bezel at the bottom.

I would forgive you for thinking that the Camon 11 Pro actually plays in the 5 Inch screen territory but fear not, its actual screen size is  6.2Inches but thanks to its 19:9 aspect ratio doing the magic, It’s a huge screen looks small and feels comfortable to hold. It can fit in your pockets with much ease or minus the fear of them bulging.

Other differences are of course the spec sheet so let us jump straight in.

    AI Cameras and more

You can’t talk about the TECNO Camon series and forget about the camera. What TECNO did this year was to add Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the 24MP Front and 16MP +5MP back Cameras to enable such functions like Face Unlock and other AI powered features like HDR, Portraits, Selfies among others. The Camon 11 Pro also has an Augmented Reality (AR) infusion in Kika Emoji (3D-like animated emojis that imitate your facial expressions and movements). All these are to be put to test in our upcoming review of the Camon 11 Pro.

How much and where to buy the Camon 11 Pro from

TECNO branded shops should be your go-to places in case you wish to buy the Camon 11 Pro. According to official figures from TECNO, the Camon 11 Pro will retail for around 899,000 UGX while its smaller sibling the Camon 11 will command at least 578,000 UGX.

What to expect in the Camon 11 Pro review

As usual, we have to put all the above and more to test and see how all this turns up versus both the price and the competition. Its from this that we shall determine whether the Camon 11 Pro is worth buying or not but for now, it has quite sparked the interest to give it a try. Until then, see you next time.
