Smile Communications updates its data carryover policy

Smile Communications has its Anytime monthly data bundles that can be used for 30 days from date of purchase. Any data bundle balance that is about to expire can be carried over or rolled-over by topping up another monthly bundle.

Today the 4G-LTE Internet Service Provider (ISP) has announced a minor change to the monthly data bundle balance rollover. Effective 18th July 2019. There will now be a recharge grace period of 7 days after the 30 days to rollover any data bundle balance. If no recharge is done during the grace period, the bundle balance will no longer be available for rollover. It should be noted that the data rollover is available on all Smile Communications data plans except Unlimited, Daily, Weekly and Gift data bundles.

During the 7-day grace period, unused data is not lost and the customer has the opportunity to renew their data plan within this “grace period” to rollover unused data. Failure to recharge within the 7-day grace period, will result in the unused data completely expiring from the customer’s account.

To carryover unused data, a customer is required to buy any monthly data bundle, except the Unlimited bundles, for the unused data to be rolled over for the next 30 days. For example, when a 3GB monthly data bundle expires after 30 days and there is 800MB data left in this bundle, the unused 800MB will roll over when the customer recharges any monthly data bundle within the 7-day grace period.

As expected, the rolled over data balance will be used first before data from the topped-up bundle. Both bundles will be valid for 30 days. The customer will be notified via SMS to the mobile number registered with Smile, on successful carryover of unused data.

The following Smile Communications data bundles are eligible for rollover of unused data include:

    1. 500MB Anytime data
    2. 1GB SmileLite
    3. 1.5GB SmileLite data
    4. 3GB Anytime data
    5. 5GB Anytime data
    6. 10GB Anytime data
    7. 20GB Anytime data
    8. 50GB Anytime data
    9. 100GB Anytime data
    10. 200GB Anytime data
