Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra: The Apple Watch Ultra for Android Users

Samsung has unveiled its latest smartwatch lineup, featuring the refreshed Galaxy Watch 7 and the all-new Galaxy Watch Ultra. The Ultra, priced at $649.99, is positioned as the premium offering for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes, drawing clear inspiration from Apple’s popular Apple Watch Ultra.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra, replacing the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, boasts a rugged design with a titanium case, sapphire crystal lens, and 10ATM water resistance. While its aesthetics are reminiscent of the Apple Watch Ultra, Samsung has incorporated its own unique touch with a 47mm squircle-shaped case and a signature digital touch bezel. The new orange Quick Button adds a pop of color and provides quick access to essential features like workouts, flashlight, and water lock.

    Feature-Packed for the Outdoors

Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is packed with features tailored for outdoor activities. It offers dual-frequency GPS, diving capabilities, a multisport activity profile, and a Night Mode for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. The watch also boasts a brighter screen, new strap options for various activities, and extended battery life, providing up to 100 hours of usage on a single charge.

    Advanced Health and Fitness Tracking

Both the Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra come equipped with Wear OS 5, One UI 6 Watch, and a powerful 3nm Exynos W1000 chip. They also share an upgraded Samsung BioActive Sensor, which promises improved heart rate, EKG, and body composition analysis. Notably, both watches have received FDA De Novo clearance for sleep apnea detection, a significant milestone in the smartwatch industry.

A Worthy Competitor in the Android Space

While the Galaxy Watch Ultra may draw inspiration from the Apple Watch Ultra, it fills a void in the Android smartwatch market. It offers a compelling alternative to Garmin watches, which often lack the smart features and third-party app ecosystem that Android users desire. With a competitive price point and a robust feature set, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is poised to make a significant impact in the Android wearable space.
