Roke Telkom has today unveiled its partnership with social media giant Facebook to launch a new product dubbed Roke Express WiFi to take high-speed internet connections to millions of Ugandans at affordable data rates.
Just like the current RokeSpot WiFi product, the new Roke Express WiFi means No need for physical connections but now you can you an app to connect to all hotspots in Uganda with an Enhanced experience. The company rolls out the new product at a time when homeschooling and work from home have been taken up by some companies and schools.
Speaking at the launch the CEO of Roke Telkom Mr. Roger Sekaziga said “I wish to extend our gratitude to Facebook and its Founder, Mr. Mark Zackerberg for extending this opportunity to us. Your choice is a great mark of confidence in our services and brand and we commit to ensuring that through this partnership, millions of Ugandans gain access to affordable internet across the country”

Roke Telkom currently has over 600 hotspots rolled out all over the country and it’s still expanding. The partnership with Facebook allows Roke to carry out a deep dive through data analytics to enhance the customer journey. Roke can leverage this capacity to identify key market segments and industry trends in order to serve their customer better.

“The Roke Telkom Express WiFi is a more scalable service network that will enable us to increase the number of access points to the internet, improve our deployment scale and enhance the efficiency to over 600 RokeSpots,” Mr. Sekaziga said. He added that Roke is now able to offer a diversified set of services including; promotional offers while charging for some, which will ultimately improve the company’s customer experiences and position Roke Telkom as a front runner in internet service provision.
Roke Express WiFi Pricing
Just like the current RokeSpots, Express WiFi has the same pricing but brings more flexible ways for hotels, schools, and other organizations to flexibly create more products to their different clients. Customers will enjoy the same speeds, higher quality services, and an enhanced experience with these new offerings.

To use Express WiFi, You can download the app from the PlayStore, put your number details, or sign-in with Facebook. With the app, you also do easily purchase data and also use the inbuilt help and support system.
Facebook first began testing its Express WiFi service network five years ago, and has since expanded across many African countries including; Tanzania, Kenya and most recently Uganda. The program is intended to offer local entrepreneurs and the grass root communities affordable internet services. The partnership between Facebook and Roke Telkom is the first of its kind to be launched in Uganda.
Such strategic partnerships indicate that, regardless of the setbacks COVID-19 has created, Ugandan enterprises continue to strive to bring better services to the citizens.
Uganda becomes the 8th country in Africa to partner with Facebook to build more internet access points that will enable developing countries easily set up and manage their hotspots, in turn providing high speed connectivity to more communities.
