Roke compensates customers affected by the recent internet shutdown

Roke Telkom was among the many internet service providers that complied with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) recent directive to shutdown internet gateways and certain access points. As you might have guessed, it complied and between 13th – 18th January 2021, there was limited and eventually no internet access on the Roke network except to their self-service portal.

The ISP has since come out to make good and compensate its clientele for 5 days that were affected by the shutdown. The service provider through a series of communications reached out to its customers promising to extend their bundle validity period for more 5 days as a result.

What does this mean to Roke Telkom clients?

This means bundles that were set to expire within the aforementioned period will be extended for five days starting on the 19th of January 2021 when the communique was sent.

However, this only extends the bundle validity but not the volume. This means your bundle expiry date has been extended but not the volume itself. Therefore, your bundle can still be used up before the extended period expires.

    The question of social media

Full restoration of services like social media is yet to materialize, awaiting UCC’s directive. Until then, services like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, YouTube, and a host of other OTT services remain blocked until further notice.
