The self-registration process is entirely online, where customers can fill in their personal information, upload a valid national ID or passport, and be assigned an account within just 5 minutes.

According to Ibrahim Kato, the Chief Retail Officer at PostBank Uganda, the ZeroFlex account is designed to be affordable and accessible. It has no maintenance fees, provides free monthly statements, and allows seamless integration with mobile wallets for 24/7 account access.

The launch of the ZeroFlex account comes at a time when mobile money transactions in Uganda have seen a significant increase, growing from 156 trillion to 191 trillion according to the Bank of Uganda’s 2023 annual report.

This trend highlights the immense potential for the banking sector to leverage alternative digital channels and drive financial inclusion.

“BoU’s 2023 annual report statistics indicate the great opportunity that the banking sector can leverage if services and products are digitized so that we can drive the financial inclusion agenda to enable individuals and businesses to access affordable financial services through platforms like ZeroFlex,” said Kato.

The ZeroFlex account is accessible to both existing PostBank customers and those who are not yet account holders. Customers can start the self-registration process by downloading the PostApp or navigating the PostBank Uganda website, further demonstrating the bank’s commitment to making financial services more accessible and convenient for all Ugandans.
