    These are the most popular TV and radio programs for Q1 2019

    The latest TV and radio ratings rank NTV Uganda and NBS TV as the most popular stations for English news and talk shows in Uganda. According to the Media Measurement Report for the first quarter of 2019, conducted by GeoPoll Audience Measurement, the two stations lead the pack when it comes to commanding the English audience for both the daytime and nighttime bulletins while Bukedde TV rules the Luganda audience.

    Data gathered from television program audiences in Uganda from January to March 2019 places NTV Tonight as the top English News program, NTV at 1 as the second, NBS Live at 9 comes third, NBS’ Live at 1 fourth, UBC News Tonight, UBC News Bulletin, and Urban’s PM Live follow in.

    When it comes to the weekly English talk shows, NBS TV’s Frontline leads the race as the most popular TV talk show, followed by NTV’s On the Spot – with these two political and current affairs shows are aired on the same day and time. UBC TV’s Talk time and Pick a Point come in there after.

    Leading TV News program – Luganda

    The Luganda finds Bukedde 1 more popular with three different news bulletins. Agaliiko nfuufu from 10 PM – 11 PM has the largest viewership followed by NTV Akawungeezi, Bukedde’s Agomuttuntu, and NBS’s Amasengejje respectively. BBS TV’s Agesigika comes in fifth, Bukedde’s 7pm bulletin – Agabutikidde – comes in sixth, followed by Spark TV’s Agafa Eyo, UBC TV’s Luganda news, and BBS’ Gambuuze respectively.

    Popular English radio programs

    For Kampala stations that serve the English audience, Capital FM proved to be the leader when it comes to the Breakfast shows that run from 6 to 10 am, ahead of Radio One, KFM, Galaxy FM, Sanyu, XFM, and Radio City – in the order.

    2. Radio One Gr8 morning – 2.5
    3. KFM D’mighty breakfast – 1.9
    4. Galaxy FM Morning saga – 1.5
    5. Sanyu FM Sanyu breakfast – 1.3
    6. XFM X AM – 0.9
    7. Radio City Breakfast in the city – 0.3

    Capital FM as well leads when it comes to the evening drive shows that run from 3 pm to 7pm on English radio stations, ranking further than Galaxy FM, Sanyu Fm, KFM, Radio One, XFM, and Radio City.

    Leading Luganda radio programs

    When it comes to the popular Luganda breakfast radio programs, CBS’ Bwakedde mpulira and Radio Simba’s Binsanga wano rank high – higher than even the English breakfast shows. These are followed by Super FM’s Zukuka, Beat’s Sisimuka, Bukedde FM’s Bukedde Butya and Akaboozi’s Eyajja Okukola.

    The Evening Drive programs on Luganda radio stations are ruled by Bukedde FM’s Wahing Bay, followed by Beat FM’s Gigenze gitya, Simba’s Mukulikeeyo, and CBS’ Sanyuka the Heart-Beat.
