No more hacking, Dark mode officially comes to WhatsApp Web

Dark Mode on WhatsApp Web is not a new phenomenon to us– we recently reported a simple hack and also in September last year, we published an article about the development of the Dark Theme on WhatsApp Web. Today this feature has been officially unveiled by the Facebook-owned company.

The company is rolling out dark mode on desktop, and other improvements to group video calls, Status in KaiOS – and coming in a few weeks, Animated Stickers and QR codes. You will have to wait for WhatsApp to roll the dark mode feature out in your region.

The downside of the previous simple hack method was that you needed to repeat the procedure every time you refresh the page, or when you open WhatsApp Web from a different location (for example from a new browser or from a different browser card).
The feature was originally not available, but using that trick one could use the theme.
