NITA set to roll-out fiber across River Nile to improve connectivity

In an effort to extend connectivity as part of the already launched National Fiber backbone Infrastructure (NBI) Phase 4 project, the National Information Technology Authority (NITA Uganda) will tomorrow attempt what the Ugandan ICT industry has so far thought impossible: roll-out fiber across River Nile. The crossing will take place beneath the waters of the river Nile.

Dubbed with a harshtag #ICTCrossover on twitter, the project will connect Adjumani and Moyo to the ICT backbone thereby completing the WestNile concentric fibre ring from Karuma to Gulu through WestNile. Therefore this fibre route will be geographically redundant.
