MTN has launched a whole new YouTube-like video platform dubbed MTNShortz.MTN Shortz is a mobile-only service that allows subscribers to upload videos of no more than 10 minutes. MTN Shortz is available through mobile phones only on here. MTN needs content providers, those people who have content that they would like to
put on MTNShortz for MTN customers to watch. But before signing up to become a content creator on this platform there are several things you need to know.
Why would one want to be a content provider for MTNShortz?
MTNshortz gives content creators opportunity to earn money from their
content. This is because in order to watch videos MTN customers must
pay by subscribing.
Who can be a content provider?
• Anyone who has content or a talent that they can create content from for a public audience. Examples could be established media houses, churches, music artists, comedians, artists etc
• Also anyone who is not established but has a talent that they want to showcase e.g students or young people, MTNshortz provides a channel for that.
What does one need to do to start providing content for MTNShorts?
• MTN has designated content integrators whose role is to signup content owners
and manage their content on MTNShortz. The content integrator for MTNShortz is

Does one need to sign a contract to have my content on MTNshortz?
• Yes. You will have to sign a contract with our Aggregator Content Connect
Africa first.
How does one get paid for their content?
• This will be agreed upon between you and the Content Connect Africa during
the process of signing the contract.
Do content creators keep all the revenue that is earned from my content?
• The model for revenue earning is a revenue share model among 3 parties: The
Content Provider (You), the content aggregator (Content Connect Africa) and
MTN. The details of how the revenue is shared will be provided to you by Content
connect Africa during the signup process. If you agree with it, you can signup.
Is any type of content allowed?
• Guidelines on the acceptable content can be found on the MTN website.
Is it mandantory for my content to be exclusive on MTNShortz?
• No. However on a case by case basis, where good content is exclusive on
MTNShortz, MTN will put extra effort behind promoting that content.
Can a content creator advertise their channel(s) on MTNshortz?
• Yes. MTN has provided a “FREE” channel on MTNShortz into which content
providers can place videos that promote their channels/videos that are on
MTNshortz. However any content that mentions any known or suspected
telecoms competitor whether through direct advertising or placement is NOT
allowed.
Can content creators have advertising or placement in their videos of MTN’s competitors?
• No. Any content that mentions any known or suspected telecoms competitor
whether through direct advertising or placement is NOT allowed.
Can a content provider create exclusive content for MTNShortz?
• A content provider may choose to create content exclusively for MTNshortz. It
should be noted though that the current model of revenue share for MTN Shortz
will apply unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties.
