    Nasasira Lauds Airtel Uganda and Huawei for Supporting e-learning

    Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, was lauded by the Minister of ICT Hon. John Nasasira for supporting e-learning in Kiruhura schools.  This comes after Huawei donated 30 PCs fully connected with internet from Airtel Uganda to Kashwa Primary School, Rwemikoma and Karo Secondary schools all in Kiruhura District on 10th June, 2016.

    The 30 PC-donation to these schools is as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) previously signed between Huawei and the Ministry of ICT of Uganda for bridging the digital divide through knowledge transfer. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hon. John Nasasira, the Minister of ICT noted the importance of computer studies right from Primary school level.

    “In a few years to come, the world is going to be only about computers. Therefore 30 computers have been offered to help Kazo students right from primary level learn computer. I thank Huawei for reaching out to promote e-learning and knowledge transfer in these school, and being a responsible corporate citizen in Uganda”, he said

    Speaking also at the ceremony, Mr. Stanley Chyn Huawei’s Managing Director said, “We are here today with Kazo and Nasasira foundation to hand over the 30 PCs donation to schools in the district as a fulfillment of the MOU. It is our corporate responsibility and obligation to give back to the community where we operate.”

    Other items donated were three high definition television screens to each school by the Chief Guests H.E Zhao Yali, the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, and 30 dongles with one year’s unlimited data by Airtel Uganda.
