In a move to garner more attention from Ugandans that lean towards locally bred content, Multichoice Uganda – the parent company to DStv and Gotv – is launching Pearl Magic.

Pearl Magic is a new Ugandan entertainment channel for adults aged between 18 – 45 years living in ‘peri-urban’ cities of Uganda. In the unique venture, all the content on the channel will be aired in Luganda, something that the PayTV defines as “speaking to viewers in a language that they understand”.

Movies and soap operas will be in Luganda launguage, with minimum English and subtitles where required. Thus the slogan ‘Kyaffe ddala’ literally meaning ‘Ours truly’ which Multichoice suggests will instill patriotism to the viewers.

MultiChoice has in the recent past invested handsomely in the creation of local content in its bid to support the growth and development of the African television industry.

The content

The channel will broadcast dramas, music shows, series, soaps, movies and the like. These include: Mistakes Girls Do, Doli armaano ki, 5 @ Home, and Ugandan movie slots and more.

Where to access Pearl Magic

Pearl Magic will be available to all DStv subscribers on Premium, Compact Plus, Compact & Family on DStv channel 161 and GOtv on GOtv Max on channel 304. Pearl Magic will also be available on the DStv Now app, for active DStv subscribers across all platforms to enjoy the channel anytime, anywhere at no extra cost.
