Multichoice launches a standalone DStv streaming service

You can now access DStv without the need for a satellite dish with the newly launched DStv Streaming service. This has been possible through the DStv Now app, however, what changes is that users can straightway sign up and watch DStv without the need to install a satellite dish as has been the case through DStv Now.

    How to access the service?

The service is available through the DStv app that is available across a wide range of platforms that include Android, iOS, Smart TVs, gaming consoles, its newly launched Stream Set-top box, and more.

On signing up for DStv, the customer will be asked to choose a satellite or streaming offering.

However, the same account is eligible for either content delivery medium. This means should you chose to sign up for either satellite or streaming, you can still access DStv across both mediums. The choice is yours.

    Pricing For DStv Streaming

However, what is surprising is that pricing remains the same across both. Much as streaming appears to be cheaper on the outside, Multichoice is choosing to maintain similar prices across both the DTH (Satellite) and OTT (Streaming) services, apparently to avoid confusion.

It goes on to warn that customers shouldn’t see the new streaming service as a separate product, but rather as an option of enjoying their current DStv subscription. This could explain the identical pricing across both services.
