    MTN Uganda now at 1.6 million data subcribers: Still expanding it’s data footprint

    MTN Uganda, the leading telecoms provider is focusing to diversify it’s clientele from voice to data services and has so far increased it by 85 per cent in the last one year, the company said in a statement. The company now boasts with 1.6 million data customers.

    “Expanding data footprint with superior speeds, more airtime availability, affordable Internet dongles and bundles, as well as their world-class Internet technologies supporting up to 100Mbps with 4G LTE.
    Since the beginning of the year, we have rolled out WiFi MTN hotspots, 21.6Mbps, 42Mbps and 4GLTE. We also provide our customers with 15MB worth of free Internet every month and we are constantly reaching out to our customers through various activations and great device deals.”

    Regional Expos

    With companies like Orange Uganda taking the lead in data, MTN Uganda has now invested in Internet education by hosting expos across the country with their regional Expos, with Gulu having opened on June 27, brings services closer to its customers so that they can experience the power of the Internet and various technologies firsthand.

    MTN says it is the leading investor in technology “with a planned investment of over $70m in 2013 to upgrade infrastructure and expand coverage to rural areas” in addition to their $80m during 2012
