MTN Uganda, this week, received a test electric vehicle from Motorcare Uganda Ltd, marking a significant stride towards a greener future. This development aligns with MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, which emphasizes the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into its operations to create shared value.
The introduction of the electric vehicle into MTN Uganda’s fleet represents a crucial advancement in the fight against climate change. With the rising global temperatures and their consequences becoming more apparent, the company acknowledges the urgency of transitioning away from fossil fuel-based vehicles.
As a result, MTN Uganda aims to gradually replace its entire fleet with electric vehicles, pending the success of the ongoing test phase.

MTN Uganda Going zero on emissions
MTN Uganda’s adoption of sustainable practices demonstrates its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, as outlined in its sustainability framework. The telecom has already made notable progress in its eco-responsibility efforts. By shifting over 64% of its sites to hydroelectricity, the company has successfully reduced its carbon emissions by 4.4% (tCO2). This track record of prioritizing ESG practices underscores MTN Uganda’s commitment to managing environmental resources sustainably for the benefit of all.
