MTN Uganda changes customer care number

MTN customer careIn a bid to comply with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) standards, MTN Uganda has announced that with effect from 19th April 2015, it will change its customer care number to 100. According to the statement on their Facebook page it read:

The UCC is the government’s regulator of all telecommunication services in Uganda. The new customer helpline 100 is a standard national number that all mobile voice customers in Uganda will use to access customer support services on their respective networks. The change of the MTN Customer Helpline to 100 therefore applies to all MTN Mobile voice customers and takes effect from Sunday, 19th April 2015.

This comes at a time when UCC recently threatened the telecom giant with a UGX 5 billion fine for non compliance with several directives including shortcodes used for airtime loading and checking balance. MTN Uganda joins other telecoms like Smart Telecom and Africell who are already using 100 for their customer care helpline. UCC, we still await for mobile number portability.
