MTN Homeland is a new product from the telecom giant that is going after the current big shots like World remit, Eversend, Moneygram, Western Union, Transferwise, Xpress Money, Skrill, Transfast, SimbaPay, Payoneer and several others. This is part of MTN’s huge vast of Mobile Financial Services (MFS) products that all seat on the MTN Mobile Money wallet product.
For those working in the UK or EU and want to send money to family and friends back home in Africa has been made easy by MTN Homeland.
Using the MTN Homeland mobile App available on Android and iOS, MTN customers in African living in 25 European countries can send money instantly to MTN Subscribers back home. You can send money to MTN mobile money wallets in Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia.
Not only can you send money with MTN Homeland, but also users can send Airtime top-ups to MTN networks in: Afghanistan, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Cyprus, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia.
How to get started with MTN Homeland

You will have to first download the Mobile App on your on Android and iOS phone. You obviously must be an EU or UK resident. Users will then be prompted to add their debit card. This is the account that MTN will use to debit cash from whenever a transaction is made. You also be asked to enter the recipients country and phone number before you can send money.
MTN group partnered with MFS Africa in order to develop this new MTN Homeland product. Based in Johannesburg South Africa, MFS Africa brands itself as the “best gateway to send money to mobile wallets in Africa”.
