    MTN Ghana Restores Network Services After Fire Outbreak

    According to the Chronicle , MTN Ghana’s technical team worked through thenight on Tuesday to restore services to subscribers in sections of the Western Region after a fire at an MTN hub-site interrupted services in Axim and surrounding areas.

    On the evening of Tuesday September 17, the company’s hub-site in Axim was gutted by fire, destroying transmission equipment and cables and disrupting services to 22 cell sites in the areas of Elubo, Tikobo,Half-Assini, Nzulesu, Esiama, and Nkroful.

    Members of the community and MTN officials were on hand to support the Fire Service to extinguish the fire, and in rapid response to the emergency, the MTN technical team was able to restore services to 18 sites a few hours after the fire was extinguished.

    When contacted, the Head of the MTN Technical team, Teddy Hayford-Acquah said all hands were on deck to restore the remaining four sites by close of Wednesday. He thanked the community for their vigilance and support, and commended the MTN technical team for their focus on service delivery and their willingness to work through the night under difficult
    circumstances to restore power and install and wire new transmission equipment as part of the recovery process.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to officials of the telecom giant.
