Mobile Money agents to win big in the MTN Momo Nyabo Retailer Promo

As the days continue to be counted to the phasing out of scratch cards, MTN Uganda is
working on increasing it’s electronic airtime retailer base. While UCC marked 1st July as the day it will phase out scratch cards with agents having new airtime selling modes, MTN has today announced that agents who use Easy Load and mobile money solutions to sell airtime stand a chance to win a startup business where kiosks, startup capital plus smartphones will be given away in the famous Momo Nyabo promo that has now extended to accommodate retailers.

During the announcement, Annie Bilenge Tabura, the General Manager Sales,
and Distribution at MTN Uganda inked that MTN was doing this to allow for a smooth
transition from scratch cards to electronic airtime distribution once the directive from the
    regulator is implemented.

With over 130,000 mobile money agents countrywide and the majority operating a two-tier system (MTN mobile money * Airtel Money). As the electronic distribution of MTN
airtime continues to grow, a growing agent network for the telco means more opportunities are to be
created both directly and indirectly in Uganda.

“Every week, up to 30 MTN airtime retailers /agents will receive a kiosk with a smart
phone and a startup capital of Shs 400,000. The promotion win run for 7 weeks up to
end of July. For a retailers or agent to qualify to enter the weekly draw, they have to sell airtime
worth UGX 100,000 every week through easy load or mobile money.”

MTN will conduct weekly draws where the 30 winners will be picked. While the new promotion focuses on rewarding loyal mobile money agents, the Momo nyabo campaign has already registered a handful of winners after it was unveiled a few weeks back.
