Meet the new East African Passport that allows you travel across the region

Traveling around East Africa has always required one to present a valid travel document that included the National ID for those crossing borders or one’s national passport but now, traveling around the region seems to be a plough along gentle slopes. How? As we speak, the Ugandan immigration authorities have issued out a new East African passport to all those willing to travel around the region.

Although crossing borders via road only requires you to have a national Identification card (NID) accompanied by its valid number (NIN) for a given time, the process is now easier than before for air travelers since the East African ID card allows you to travel anywhere in the region. As much as we have a list of Visa-free locations you can travel to, this particular passport is designed for travel in East Africa.

Features of the new East African passport

The new East Africa is one of those passports you can actually term as designed for a dotted region. As a result of the East African Community relations, the agreed passport features a blend of features similar to the ordinary Ugandan passport. In addition to an East African map, the new passport features safety seals, authorizing signature of the Passport Control office together with Kiswahili dominating the passport text.

Amidst a unique passport number, the East African passport also features a screen header of the same number. More so, the issuing country follows the headed number before an authorization signature with the East African Community (EAC) emblem to the left side page of the passport. Nonetheless, the passport is more like a Gateway solution throughout the region all the way covering  Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and  Burundi.
