    Meet Dr. Mugasha Hatwib the new NITA-U Executive Director

    The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Judith Nabakooba has appointed a Dr. Mugasha Hatwib as the new National Information and Technology Authority (NITA-U)Executive Director. The current ED James Saaka is set to finally ended his 10-year tenure at the NITA-U.

    James Saaka has been the helm of NITA-U as the Executive Director since 2010 and the contract for this position is only renewable once every five years with a two-term limit. Saaka’s contract expires in August 2020. In a letter dated 23rd June from the ICT Minister Judith Nabakooba clearly indicates that Dr. Mugasha Hatwib will take over this mantle.

    “In accordance with section 16(1) of the National Information and Technology Act 2009, I am pleased to appoint you as Executive Director and Board Member of the National Information and Technology Authority — Uganda”, Minister Nabakooba said in her letter.

    Dr. Mugasha Hatwib has a PhD in Computational Modeling from the USA at the Louisiana Tech University. He also has two Master’s Degrees an M.Sc in computer Science from the same University and an MSc Mathematics.

    In press release, The NITA-U Board of Directors, Management team and the entire staff of NITA-U welcomed Dr. Hatwib Mugasa to NITA –U. And they look forward to continuing the various initiatives that will transform service delivery in the country.

    NITA-U has among others, embarked on integration of Government systems and services with the aim of easing data sharing, reducing ICT costs, and in turn improve public service delivery.
