Every time I check my GooglePlay store I am greeted by many apps that are begging to be updated. I feel its high-time for telecom companies in Uganda to come up with special GooglePlay or App Store dedicated data bundles for browsing, downloading, and updating apps from these stores.
This won’t be a first as Vodacom in South Africa has already introduced Google Play bundles to allow smartphone users to access millions of apps of their choosing, improving accessibility, allowing all customers to become a part of the digital revolution.

The Google Play Store bundle pricing could expire in a day, a week, or a month just like other existing bundles. Such services will differentiate telecoms who come up with innovative services, solutions, and continuous value for all its customers.

A GooglePlay or AppStore data bundle could offer several benefits which include:
- Control and worry-free access – Telecom customers in Uganda will have more control over their Google Play Store data consumption and will be able to connect and engage with the most up-to-date apps – without having to worry about experiencing bill-shock.
- Cost-saving – Customers would save on data costs linked to updating or downloading the latest apps, as the bundle prices have been reduced.
- Always connected – Customers would not need to wait to download or update essential apps. The bundle purchase will be instant and can be consumed immediately, ensuring that customers are always connected to what is important to them.
There is no doubt that the bundles would reduce barriers to accessing the Google Play Store and save consumers on their data spend in the process. This will enable customers to fully optimize their smartphone use and connect.
