    Lycamobile Uganda: How and where to get a SIM card and get started

    Lycamobile Uganda did a pre-launch of their services in January this year and it seems their services are ready for prime-time. You can now easily get a Lycamobile Uganda SIM Card to enjoy their low call and data data rates.

    The UK based telecom announced its entry into the Ugandan market at an event at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala. Unlike in other countries where it operates as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), in Uganda, it runs full Mobile network operations after they acquired Tangerine Uganda and all its assets last year.

    How to get Lycamobile Uganda SIM cards

    1. Visit a Lycamobile Uganda retailer (see details of locations below)
    2. Request a Lycamobile SIM card
    3. Show your original National ID
    4. Insert SIM card in your phone
    5. You can start Enjoying the services

    Once your Lycamobile Uganda SIM card is activated, you can view your number by dialing *192#. You can call Customer Services on 100 from your Lycamobile or +256 726100100 (most users say that this number is not available so just take note of that) from any other phone. You can always check your balance by dialing 131 or entering *131#.

    You can top-up using a debit or credit card online on their website. As an MNO, Lycamobile Uganda has noted that its rates are subject to market conditions and rate fluctuations and they will be constantly updating their products to ensure that they offer the best value for money to its subscribers. The company is also planning to launch its own mobile money offering called Lycamobile Money, so keep an eye out for that in the near future.
