Is LG about to release a triple-screen smartphone?

At the MWC 2019 in Barcelona in February, LG showed off the V50 – a 5G dual screen device that was to counter the then announced foldable Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X. Now, far away from the competition, the company seems to be ready to unveil a triple-screen smartphone early September.

This has been revealed in a teaser video for the forthcoming IFA tech exhibit showing a foldable three screen smartphone. The video depicts the tagline “Get the Game On with LG Mobile at IFA 2019”.

In the video, a 19-second clip, a phone screen playing Pacman is shown as it then unfolds into two screens centre spread. The device then folds back to reveal the third screen revealing the time and date of the launch event.

The date points to next month, September 6, and the phone is likely to be unveiled at the LG press conference in Berlin.

Not much detail has been told of the new phone, not even the name, however we can predict that it could be a 5G powered smartphone. The V50 was as well designed for 5G, with inbuilt mmWave capability courtesy of the Qualcomm X50 modem.

    We await for the launch!
