Currently, when you try to access Facebook on the web, you will receive a notification seen above  informing you that something went wrong and they are getting it fixed. There is no official word from the social media giant yet so I guess we have to keep calm till it’s fixed.

    Update: Hackers claim outage

Facebook and Instagram now back online on after over an hour of worldwide outage. Hacker group Lizard Squad has so far hinted that they may have been responsible for this outage. Facebook’s developer site reports downtime on both Facebook and Instagram’s API servers “from 07:10 until 08:10 GMT.” The note adds that “our engineers identified the cause of the outage and recovered the site quickly.”

Hacking group Lizard Squad, who previously claimed responsibility for the attacks on Xbox Live and the PlayStation network over Christmas, suggested that they might have had a hand in these recent outages. A pinned tweet on the group’s Twitter account simply says “Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, AIM, Hipchat #offline #LizardSquad,” another tweet says “More to come soon. Side note: We’re still organizing the email dump, stay tuned for that.”
